“I'm a self-made symphony, bout to change the industry.” This line taken from his irony-laced song “Just a Rapper…?” is a personal testimony of JDVBBS (pronounced Jay-Dubs) and his approach to music. Hailing from Northern Virginia, JDVBBS is preparing his first full-length project titled subURBAN set to release in January, 2014. With a love for hip-hop and a background including classical piano, DJing and even A Cappella, JDVBBS uses his diverse talents to bridge the gaps between genres and create his own smorgasbord of sounds that offers a unique musical experience to the listener.
An eclectic mix of influences from Kanye West to Bjork has helped fashion JDVBBS’ sound without making him a carbon copy of other artists. With a flow that ranges from laid back to rapid-fire, an absurd rhyme cadence, and a vocabulary that rivals a college professor, JDVBBS is primed to help hip-hop – and music as a whole – progress into the future.
